An account of working with past-life imagery
A person spent some time exploring relationships with others through past-life imagery. In the account described, the work took place over several sessions.
Yes, I understand that psychology and ‘past lives’ are different things, but the results were good, so I actively explored whom I had upset and how in earlier times. You will not suddenly speak ancient Greek, but you can understand behaviour patterns that still repeat.
The most interesting thing is that belief in past lives is not required: the images that come can be understood as guided imagery and worked with usefully, although they do not feel like guided imagery.
Problems from the past can be divided into two types:
1. Situations in which we hurt someone—betrayed, abandoned, or deceived them—and created a conflict that is still felt.
2. Situations in which, out of hurt or fear, we made a consequential decision that held us back: we did not fulfil our potential, turned away, or left.
I therefore drew the following conclusions for myself, and have never regretted them:
Do not take revenge. It is better to step aside and let a situation resolve itself. You cannot know what consequences a conflict may have, so it is better to limit the damage early. Prolonging a battle keeps us in an old pattern and may make us miss the moment when life offers a better alternative.
At a crossroads, make a considered decision guided by fairness, kindness, and faith in what is good, even when you want to give up, feel hurt, and leave. Decisions affect the rest of life, so it is better to live it fully rather than cut off possibilities by retreating into the role of a victim, and so on.
If you dream of something good but fear stops you acting, do not despair. The universe will offer help and resources. A kind idea ultimately enriches everyone, so bringing it to life matters. Believe in what is good and keep going despite obstacles and distractions.
Faith in goodness always pays off.
