Regression and depth work: methods and format

Regression methods, exploring inner experience, and questions to discuss before a session.

A separate direction

Regression work is a distinct area of practice. It is not a required continuation of individual work, and its format does not automatically follow that of ordinary consultations.

Methods

In regression work, Alexander draws on Elman hypnosis, Ericksonian hypnosis, generative trance, shamanic trance methods, and Siddha Yoga.

The format is discussed individually

Expectations, questions, and the particular way of working are discussed before the session begins.

Important

This article is not a diagnosis, treatment, or a guide to undertaking depth work on your own. Questions about whether the format is appropriate for your situation should be discussed before a session.

From Alexander's notes

Depth work is often described in grand terms. I prefer clarity: naming the methods, not inventing a script, and discussing only what is appropriate for the individual person.

Next step

You do not need to work everything out beforehand

A few lines are enough to see whether it makes sense to discuss the work further.
